The Simple Method
The RAW Method, bypasses the steaming process. In this method, the placenta is sliced while raw and dehydrated immediately. Dehydration occurs at 160 degrees Fahrenheit, the USDA-recommended temperature for dehydrating meat. By dehydrating at such a high temperature, it aids in destroying any bacteria.
This method is particularly suited for individuals who have experienced prolonged labor, postpartum hemorrhage, or wish to boost breast milk production and energy post-delivery. This method is not advised for women who have high anxiety and have chronic insomnia.
The Gentle Method
This method is inspired from Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is the oldest known method and follows the TCM principles and specific needs during the postpartum period. In TCM theory, the process of labor and birth leaves the mother with an open, empty space which is considered very cold (yin). To promote postpartum healing, warm energy (yang) is added.
This method involves steaming the placenta with herbs of your choice before placing it in the dehydrator at 160 degrees. It is believed that putting the herbs in the steaming process brings out the placenta’s natural healing properties. We offer the placenta to steamed with lemon, ginger, white peony root, or cayenne pepper to be added at the mother's request. Each component provides different healing properties for moms.
**Those who are interested in specific herbs that are individualized to your needs must seek a TCM doctor in your area.
